ESWT stands for Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy, LISWT stands for Low-Intensity Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy, MyACT stands for Myofascial Acoustic Compression Therapy, and LAST stands for Large Area Shockwave Therapy. These therapies are generally considered safe and effective treatments. They work by creating micro traumas to the affected tissue, which stimulates neovascularization, and promotes healing through an increase in mast cells, and stems cells which flood the area and renew the tissues surrounding the treatment. After repeated trauma and repair cycles the overall effect is stronger less fibrotic healthier tissue. It is not recommended for people who have current blood clots, or cancer malignancy that could become in focus over the course of your ESWT treatment.
